NW Reviews: The Magic Theatre – London Town
Steamrolllllllah! Steamrollllllah!! I can’t get this song out of my tiny little head. Maybe my head isn’t so tiny. In high school, a girl once said I had a big head. If that’s the case, this song occupies a lot of space in my mind right now. London Town is The Magic Theatre’s first album (technically). The band itself has seen many different forms and names; nothing short of Joan of Arc’s many branches. The Magic Theatre, the newest endeavor, is refreshing and hopeful.
As the music and name suggests, this is more of a concept album of some sorts. The story itself is about… something I have yet to analyze yet. The music itself is so nice to listen to, I risk yet to ruin it with heavy analysis and a producer’s ear. But it seems as if the album speaks for itself. The entire album has been “released” via YouTube on their page in HD format with lyrics for you to enjoy at your scenester karaoke parties. Although they might claim it sounds like “Victorian orchestra 60s pop” it’s more along the lines of… well, music hipsters listen to. I would argue it’s along lines with the Forgive Durden and fun. type bands out right now.
Completely along the lines of what “new” music is all about. Slightly revivalist, mostly fresh out the box. Great from start to finish, as far as listening quality goes. To kick it all up a notch: the singing doesn’t suck, which is usually where some of the newer bands fail to match a piece to their puzzle. Production is good, and seems to have taken two attempts to nail it right. Also, being void of most label and management contacts is plus for this blog. Thumbs up for being a role model artist, TMT!
Looking for more. The music itself strikes a great note for what TMT has gone for, conceptually and musically. But for those who are wanting more from Sophia and Dan, this album isn’t the place to run to for something red and something blue as well. And by the looks of things (from their blog) this might go the way of American Football and never be seen again… or at least not for a while. Fingers crossed for a US tour (or any tour at that). People who would like this: smart people. People who enjoy smiling in the morning. People who dance to no music randomly at times. Others who would like this: people into fun., Forgive Durden, Tegan and Sara, An Horse, Rachael Cantu, Say Anything, Joanna Newsom, etc.
And, rarely, yet again, I’m saying this album will withstand the rest of the year’s releases in relevancy. So, for a second time (I think?) this year, we have another nominee…

Welcome First time jumped here on your site, found on Google. It really helps to have sombody to talk to other then my divorced parents. Thanks again Mr. Grey.

People think that gold bullion is better investment than stocks. People think that value of gold and silver will rise again. Look the site about Silver Bullion
Silver prices rised again. Will it rise more? Euro is falling. Should we buy silver now at that high prices? Look at that charts of silver prices here or at Kitco. What should I do?
This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
